Join us for a conference on the state of media pluralism and media freedom in Europe, where we will present the results of our flagship research project, the Media Pluralism Monitor.
The Media Pluralism Monitor is a tool designed to assess the risks to media pluralism and media freedom in European countries, based on a set of more than 200 variables for 20 indicators that feed into four main areas: fundamental protection, market plurality, political independence, and social inclusiveness.
Our team of researchers has analyzed the media landscape in different European countries, looking at issues such as ownership concentration, political influence, transparency, and the regulatory framework. This year’s report also features a pilot study on Ukraine and Bosnia.
We will present the main findings of our research, highlighting the trends and challenges that European media face today. The report provides a comprehensive overview of the state of media pluralism and media freedom in Europe, identifying areas of concern and best practices that can be shared across different countries.
We are honored to welcome Giuseppe Abbamonte, Director for Media Policy at the European Commission, as a keynote speaker. Mr. Abbamonte will share his insights on the current state of media pluralism and media freedom in Europe, and discuss the policy responses that are needed to safeguard these fundamental values.
The conference will also feature a panel discussion with experts from academia, civil society, and the media industry, who will provide their perspectives on the challenges and opportunities for media pluralism and media freedom in Europe.
