Working Paper: Monitoring online media pluralism in Flanders

The CMPF is pleased to publish a new working paper from Ingrid Lambrecht and Professor Peggy Valcke, members of the Belgian Media Pluralism Monitor country team and researchers at the Centre for IT & IP Law at Catholic University of Leuven. The paper, titled Monitoring online media pluralism in Flanders : lessons drawn from DIAMOND SBO studies, explores the “growing concern over increasing market power by a handful of widely used online services” beginning from the perspective that the “situation may limit citizens’ access to or consumption of a diverse set of media content.”

The authors suggest the development of indicators capable of measuring media pluralism online that would allow for more accurate monitoring, introducing transparency and fostering public scrutiny of the situation.
