Join the CMPF team as they present the key findings of its flagship project, the Media Pluralism Monitor, which highlights current trends and challenges in European media landscapes.

During the event, the CMPF team will present key findings from the Media Pluralism Monitor, shedding light on the current trends and challenges facing European media today. This comprehensive research assesses annually the risks to media pluralism and freedom across European member states and candidate countries. It examines over 200 variables and 20 indicators across four critical areas: fundamental protection, market plurality, political independence, and social inclusiveness.

The CMPF’s research teams have meticulously analysed media landscapes in the EU 27 and five candidate countries (Albania, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Turkey), addressing pressing issues such as ownership concentration, media ownership transparency, political influence, status of journalists, media literacy, integrity of information, and regulatory frameworks for freedom of expression and media freedom.

The study also includes detailed reports on Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ukraine, and Moldova. Notably, this research contributes to the Rule of Law Report. Vera Jourová, Vice President of the European Commission for Values and Transparency, will join the event remotely.

The conference will be also an occasion to discuss the steps for an effective implementation of the recent regulation (EU) 2024/1083 of the European parliament and of the Council of 11 April 2024 establishing a common framework for media services in the internal market and amending Directive 2010/13/EU (European Media Freedom Act).
