Stakeholders meeting: Implementation of the MPM 2016 in Montenegro

Results of the Media Pluralism Monitor 2016 implementation in Montenegro were discussed with national stakeholders at the meeting organized on 9 December 2016 in Podgorica at the Montenegro Media Institute. General opinion of participants was that the Monitor gives solid overview of current situation and pin points the main issues burdening the media pluralism in the country. The discussion in particular highlighted the necessity of improving the legislation in the field of media and ensuring transparency of media financing from public funds. Montenegro was included in the MPM2016 assessment as an EU Candidate Country. Final results and reports are expected to be published at the beginning of 2017.
