Roberta Carlini

Research Associate

    Journalist and writer, specialised in economics, employment, education, social and gender issues. Contributing regularly to Italian national newspapers, magazines and radio.

    After an undergraduate degree in Law and a postgraduate Research Project in Institutional Economics for the National Research Council (CNR), she began to work as a journalist at Il manifesto, where she was reporter, economic editor and then deputy editor. From 2003 she worked as a freelance journalist, specialising in inquiries into social and economic issues and data journalism; contributing to L’Espresso, Internazionale, La Stampa, and as economic columnist for the daily local newspaper network Gedi-L’Espresso. She also makes regular contributions as an author and broadcaster for Rai Radio Tre. She co-founded (a web-magazine disseminating knowledge and expertise on Gender and Economics), and (a website about: “Economy as it is, and as it could be”). She is a consultant for Fondazione Giacomo Brodolini; in 2018 she contributed to an international project on Media and Democracy for Bertelsmann Foundation and Fondazione Brodolini.  As an essayist, she has written several books, most recently “Come siamo cambiati. Gli italiani e la crisi” (Laterza, 2015).
