The European Digital Media Observatory (EDMO) is pleased to announce the launch of its training module on “Advanced fact-checking techniques and tools”. Applications are now open and interested fact-checkers are invited to apply at the link below.

Over the past several years, fact-checking—one of the key pillars of EDMO’s activities—has taken the front stage in the global fight against disinformation. With an increasingly large number of fact-checking organizations emerging across Europe and the world, fact-checkers can play a key role in the detection and analysis of disinformation campaigns and in providing public information to raise awareness about disinformation.

The Advanced Fact-checking Training Module organized by EDMO aims to provide fact-checkers with an overview of the latest advancements in the field of automated fact-checking and a presentation of one of the most effective software solutions to help their work. During the second part of the module, the training will explore one very successful case of cooperation between journalists and health experts to provide accurate and relevant information regarding Covid-19. Participants are invited to interact with the experienced trainers in specific Q&A sessions at the end of each presentation.

Target audience:

This training is primarily aimed at expert fact-checking practitioners with a professional interest in learning more about the latest advancements in the area. Representatives of all fact-checking organizations are invited to apply, including but not limited to fact-checking organizations working in EDMO National Hubs and members of the EDMO fact-checking network.

Further editions of this module will be considered in case of high interest. To participate please apply here by 21 November at 12:00 pm CET. The organizers will be responsible for selecting the participants to the training. Participants will be selected with an effort made to ensure a balanced representation across gender, nationality, and institutional lines.  Being part of an EDMO national hub or of the EDMO fact-checking network may constitute an advantage.
