Gabriela Jacomella is a journalist, writer, researcher and trainer with a focus on disinformation and media literacy. After her MA in Literature at Scuola Normale (Pisa), she worked for 9 years as a reporter for Corriere della Sera (with a break as a fellow at the Reuters Institute in Oxford) before moving to South Sudan to train local journalists. In 2013, when conflict broke out in the country, she moved back to Italy. In 2016 she co-founded Factcheckers.it, a no profit association for educational fact-checking. In 2017 she published Il Falso e il Vero (Feltrinelli). In 2017/18 she joined the EUI’s School of Transnational Governance as a Policy Leaders Fellow. Together with the OECD’s Open Government Unit, she is currently exploring the relationship between public communication and disinformation.
